Bone graft
Jan. 4th, 2011 06:59 pmI'm going back into hospital on Thursday morning. This time around we're probably doing a bone graft, and definitely a fluid drain and foot adjustment. I say probably because you can never be too sure with Mr Calder. When he opens me up he might think he'd like to poke it a bit and do it a bit differently. Whatever he thinks is best, frankly.
I expect to be in for a few days. I'm not basing this on anything concrete but rather that the first time I was in hospital for this I had a bone graft then and it was a few days, so... yes. I'm nervous but also looking forward to it at the same time. The fluid has really been building up since the turning stopped and now I have a rash on the tops of my toes and there is some really nasty-looking fluid coming out of the wound site. It's not infected though, it's just desperate to get out. I'm hoping after the op there will follow a few months of calm and not being painful or overly-swollen.
As last time, if you want to send a card please do but I have no idea what ward I'll be on, so if you have my home address, feel free to send them to here and they'll be ferried over! Thank you everybody for your continued support, the little things I've been sent (electronically and postally) have cheered me up a lot. Even with this next step in sight, the final result is still a very small light at the end of the tunnel.
