First Clinic

freddiefragglesToday was the first clinic visit. It's been a bit of an ordeal. Journey down took longer than normal, then I sat around with Mum waiting for a porter to wheel me to xray. There was an hour's wait at xray (they're always horrendously busy) followed by another hour in outpatients before seeing Mr Calder. Of course, I managed to need the loo just before he called me - sod's law! We finally got home at about 4pm, having left at 9am. Next time we're going to get there for 08.30 because that's when xray starts to open. It'll be an early wake up but ultimately worth it, since we should then be back home much much earlier.
Anyway, Mr Calder was pleased with the progress the xray showed, I've managed half a centimetre in a week! I've also met some other patients with frames on and they've shared some wisdom with me - essentially to expect it to hurt for the first 4-5 weeks and after that it will get much better.
On Friday we're going to take a little trip to the Tansor Assessment Centre where we hope I'll find a wheelchair that will be much more supportive and comfortable to sit in.
So yeah, things are progressing. Sleeping has been varied, from very good to almost non-existant. Hopefully it'll all start to improve more.
