freddiefragglesThis time next week, my leg will be... ...different! But I'm not entirely sure how different. I am having an operation on September 22 at RNOH Stanmore. Hopefully I'll be home the same day but I'm going to pack a bag of stuff and my teddy bear, William, just in case I have to stay overnight. It's quite likely that Mr Calder will take the entire frame off, which will be a relief because I'm on antibiotics again this week. I probably would have taken them anyway just as a precautionary measure before the op, wouldn't want to have to cancel it because I'd caught a cold from my nieces (one of whom is at playschool five days a week) or nephew.
The op will be 52 weeks to the day that the frame went on. I had the first op on September 23 2010. I'm actually really pleased about the symmetry of that, even if it is 2-4 months more than predicted. It's taken as long as it needs to and is getting to the point of being a hindrance to my bone regrowth instead of helping. This is because of the infections, mostly. I'll go into a plaster cast, which will feel like my leg is floating. It will be really weird.
I'm hoping I can pick a funky colour for my plaster cast, what colour would you go for if you had to choose?
