ATOS update
Aug. 11th, 2011 10:45 pmI win at benefits. Following the 'medical' on Sunday, I received a brown envelope from the DWP this morning to tell me there is a change to my ESA payment due to "a decision on [my] capability to work." I have been placed in the "Support Group" which means I am not required to take part in any work related activity and I also qualify for a Christmas Bonus Payment in the first week of December (of £10! Wow!).
The most significant thing is that the ESA has been increased by roughly £50 a week, backdated to April. So, after the first backdated payment in June, I'm also going to get yet another backdated payment, and extra money a week. So much, in fact, that I'm able to contribute towards the weekly groceries, which my dad is pleased about. And so am I, in a way.
There are so many horror stories about what happens when you have an ATOS medical that I was worried sick (not quite literally) before it. But in many ways I'm relieved to be able to present a "happy ending." It does happen!
