Maybe the penultimate clinic letter...
Pretty exciting really.
I reviewed Ms F in clinic today. It is 10 months since we removed the Ilizarov frame from her right tibia and foot following a bone transport and tibio-talar fusion.
She is now walking well with very little discomfort. She has good movement in the mid tarsal region.
X-rays today show that the bone regenerate is remodeling extremely well. Good cortices are formed posteriorly, medially and laterally. There is a minimal filling in to do anteriorly.
The fusion site is excellent.
The plan therefore is to mobilise without a brace. To be seen again in 9 months time with a further x-ray of tibia on arrival. The plan at that stage is to consider discharge.
With kind regards
Mr Peter Calder
